Murano is the home of blown glass; among the Muranese, in fact, the centuries-old tradition of artistic glassmaking has been handed down, which even today it is possible to admire in one of the factories on the island.

Inside them, in some cases for free, in others after paying a ticket, you can watch the glass making and the creation of an object such as plates, vases, jugs and more.

I am sure that just as it happened to me, the gestures of the artisans, their mastery and colors and the shapes of their realization will leave you speechless.

Always a center of craftsmanship, Murano is in fact the perfect destination if you are passionate about art and design: among the workshops and artisan shops you can find real works of art to admire and decide to take home.

Do not miss a visit to the Glass Museum, founded in 1861 in Fondamenta Marco Giustinian, to create a real historical archive on the life of the island and its traditions.

But the island of Murano, composed of nine islets joined by a wide canal, also has much more to offer.

Among the treasures to be admired in the most famous of the islands of Venice there is certainly the Cathedral of Santa Maria and Donato, the most important of the churches of the island dating back to the 7th century and the church of San Pio Martire, dating back to the 16th century, to inside you can see masterpieces by Bellini and Tintoretto.

The Murano Lighthouse, built in Istrian stone and located in Fondamenta Francesco Maria Piave, is also worth a visit.
