Carnival 2019: events and fashion shows in Italy

Anything goes at carnival time! In all honesty I have never particularly loved this party, also because as a child I was so ashamed to disguise myself as a musketeer or a clown that if I think about it I am still ashamed now. Anyway the strange is me, I hope you are different from me so today I want to tell you about the 2019 Carnival fashion shows and events .

2019 Carnival in Italy: events and fashion shows
Venice Carnival
Let’s start with the king of Italian Carnivals, the one of Venice that has very ancient origins and that was even established as a public holiday with an edict of 1296.

There will be many events from February 16th to March 5th that will liven up what I think is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, including:

the Venetian Festival on the water in Rio di Cannaregio, which will take place both on Saturday 16 February from 18 to 22, and on Sunday 17 from 10.30 to 13, with a masked boat procession and food and wine stands
the Festa delle Marie , the masked procession that will take place on Saturday 23 February and will start at 2.30 pm from San Piero di Castello, arriving at 4 pm in Piazza San Marco
the Angel Flight to Piazza San Marco that officially opens the Venice Carnival will be held on February 24th
the Donkey Flight which will take place on Sunday 11 February in Mestre in Piazza Ferretto
Carnival of Viareggio
Another historic Italian Carnival is the one that will take place in the Tuscan city of Viareggio from February 9th to March 5th 2019.

During the four weeks of festivities there will be five Masked Courses on the boulevards at sea, that is five parades of allegorical floats in papier-mâché, masks, parties and much more.

The Masked Courses will take place:

Saturday 9 February at 16.00
Sunday 17 February at 15.00
Saturday 23 February at 5 pm
Sunday 3 March at 3 pm
Tuesday 5 March at 4.30pm with the proclamation of the winners’ wagons and the fireworks display.
Entry to Masquerade Courses costs € 20 per person (€ 35 for the cumulative ticket that allows you to attend all courses), € 15 for children from 1.20 m in height but up to 14 years old. To avoid queues at the ticket offices on site, tickets can be purchased online .
